Whether you are self-employed and can deduct daycare expenses from your daycare income depends on the amount of control a parent has over your work. Generally, you are a self-employed individual if you control all of the following: the number of hours you work. the places you work and the materials you use.
Child care providers, who don’t require a license under state law, are not self-employed. We consider unlicensed individual providers as employees of the child(ren)’s parents.

You must indicate the total number of hours and days child care was provided each week. You must claim the amount you wish to be reimbursed. For hourly, daily, or weekly rates complete the “Amount Provider is Billing” each week, total up all weeks in the “Total” box.

Who is paid to take care of children at home?
Some children are cared for in their own homes by a paid housekeeper, maid, governess, au pair or nanny. The home caregiver is generally paid as a household employee. The parents show the wages on Schedule H attached to their Form 1040. This situation is not a child care provider business.
