What are the problems faced by person living with disabilities?

Discrimination/Social Exclusion: Negative attitudes held by the families of the disabled, and often the disabled themselves, hinder disabled persons from taking an active part in the family, community or workforce. Differently-abled people face discrimination in everyday life.

How does society view those with disabilities?

The social model of disability says that disability is caused by the way society is organized, rather than by a person’s impairment or difference. It looks at ways of removing barriers that restrict life choices for disabled people.

Is disability a human rights issue?

Many people with disabilities do not have equal access to health care, education and employment opportunities, do not receive services they may require and experience exclusion from everyday life activities. Following the entry into force of the CRPD, disability is increasingly understood as a human rights issue.

How does the government help disabled?

Persons with disabilities are eligible for income tax deduction under Section 80U. Deduction of Rs. 50,000 is provided to those with disability in the range of 40 per cent to 80 per cent. 1,00,000 is provided to those with more than 80 per cent disability.

Is living with a disability hard?
